The XL+ works out of the box, but there are some accessories you might want to consider adding to your cart.

Stable Printing Environment

More nozzles, more options

Keep your filaments dry

Up to 60°C in the Enclosure for Prusa XL+ (not compatible with XL)
The XL+ is brand new - independent review units go out at launch, and we'll link the verdicts here as they publish. Until then, the best predictor is the machine this one is built on: four years of Original Prusa XL reviews, owner reports, and print farms running around the clock. It's the same platform - perfected.
Each self-contained XL+ toolhead carries its own extruder, hotend, nozzle, and filament. Parked heads stay preheated for instant material swaps and auto-power down when unused. It is still the market's largest, fastest, and only active toolchanger capable of swapping whole tool types.

Huge single-piece heatbeds warp and waste power heating empty space. The XL+ solves this with 16 individually controlled tiles across its 360 × 360 mm surface, powering only the active print area to eliminate heat warping. Perfect first layer + power savings.

The XL+ uses the Loadcell sensor to measure the distance between the nozzle and the print surface. This is the most accurate and reliable method in the entire industry. It automatically accounts for nozzle changes, surface textures, and thermal expansion - completely eliminating manual Z-offsets and surface reflection errors.

The direct-drive Nextruder feeds filament with enough finesse for soft TPU and enough force for carbon-fiber composites, up to 290 °C. Nozzles can be swapped easily in minutes: 0.25 mm for miniature detail, 0.6 or 0.8 mm for speed, hardened steel for abrasives, high-flow CHT for production throughput. With five heads, one job can run five different nozzle strategies at once.

A rigid CoreXY frame moves the light printhead instead of the heavy bed. Input Shaper cancels frame vibration, Phase Stepping smooths the motors themselves, and the XL+'s new 1.5 mm GT belts eliminate fine artifacts. You'll get both high speed and the perfect print quality in one package.

Because each toolhead is self-contained, the docks are really sockets for capabilities. A silicone-printing toolhead, co-developed with Filament2 and exclusive to the XL platform, arrives in Q4 2026 - you will be able to print with real silicone on a desktop machine.

“The results exceeded our expectations and significantly influenced the expansion of 3D printing to our facilities.”
The cooperation between Škoda Auto and Prusa Research helped initiate a shift in the way people think about production.

Documented results from published Prusa Stories and manufacturing case studies. Different teams, different Prusa models, one pattern: the printed parts hold up in production.

When a parts shortage threatened the line, printed covers kept cars moving. A separate printed prototype unlocked over €10,000 in annual savings.

Infinite Acoustics is an acoustics company that creates 3D-printed speaker cabinets using recycled materials, breathing new life into industrial and consumer waste. The company’s products are built on demand in local micro-factories to minimize their carbon footprint and enable customized, on-demand production.

Durable printed replacement cases for train sensors, at half the cost of the previous solution.

3D printing is ever-present in the team’s workshop – from functional parts and various prototypes to clever tools and jigs. For example, Arthur showed us a 3D-printed custom screwdriver with a different-sized bolt on each side and a tailored fit to the hand of a specific mechanic. On the race track, a clever detail like that can save you a precious second or two.

Mechatronics and R&D teams run Prusa print farms to prototype custom sensors, safety hardware and structural elements for accelerator projects.
For a workshop or a production line, the printer is a tool that pays rent.
PrusaSlicer, EasyPrint and firmware updates are free and open-source.
The only real consumable.
The segmented heatbed warms only the tiles your part covers, so small parts don't pay a big machine's energy bill.
Nozzles last thousands of print hours with proper maintenance.
Step-by-step self-service guides are published for every common repair, and 24/7 human support is included.
A machined aluminum assembly jig runs $300–800 outsourced and takes one to three weeks. Printed on the XL+ in a carbon-fiber blend, the same jig is $5-15 of material and is on the line the next morning. A handful of jigs a year pays for the printer.
The documented cases above tell the same story at scale: €10k+ annual savings from one prototype (Škoda), 50% cost cuts (Knorr-Bremse), 100 hours per aircraft (SHARK.AERO).
The XL received a number of important upgrades that make the user experience and print quality better, speeds faster, and operation easier and even more reliable.

The XL aligned its toolheads with a mechanical pin - accurate, but lengthy. The XL+ uses a dedicated electronic sensor to align toolheads fully automatically.
The XL+ prints 10–15% faster than the XL. On a 60-hour prop print, that's roughly eight hours back - one more evening in the workshop, or one more batch per day in production.
The new GT1.5 belts also bring a visible improvement. They help make fine repeating artifacts less noticeable, which is especially useful on the large, smooth surfaces the XL is often used to print.
New, improved cooling on individual toolheads leads to perfect print quality and outstanding overhang performance - your prints will look better and you'll need fewer supports. Plus, there are additional fans and heatsinks to cool down the electronics.
At the start of every print, every nozzle is cleaned using the nozzle wiper - more precise pre-print calibration, better looking prints.
Every feature we shipped across the whole Prusa lineup since the XL launched is in the XL+ out of the box.
The XL+ never requires a network connection. Configure the printer, slice models, and install firmware updates offline without sacrificing any features or performance. For environments requiring strict security, the Wi-Fi module can be physically removed.
Government agencies, high-clearance manufacturing, and companies handling sensitive data can operate with the absolute guarantee that the printer will never share a single byte of data with any cloud infrastructure.
Designed for facilities with strict security protocols, the Critical Infrastructure Bundle guarantees offline safety: zero Wi-Fi circuitry, no built-in cameras, and a certified, encrypted USB drive.

Why the XL+ is the number one choice for demanding industries.
What you design is what you print: the loadcell-probed first layer, the rigid CoreXY frame and automatic per-toolhead offsets hold dimensions across reprints and across machines. Qualify a part once, then reprint it with the same quality.
Our own print farm logs over a million testing hours every quarter, and current-generation Prusa printers hold excepional print reliability there. The XL+ ships with every fix we prepared in the last two years - It's perfect, day one.
