Question 1

What are the Connect Services and what specific solutions do they offer?

Accepted Answer

The Prusa Connect service, as well as the Prusa Link and Prusa Connect Farm services (collectively referred to as the “Prusa Connect Services” or “Connect Services”), is a suite of cloud-based services and remote printing solutions developed in-house by Prusa Research, Id. No.: 06649114, with its registered office at Partyzánská 188/7a, Holešovice, 170 00 Prague 7, Czech Republic. Provision of the above-mentioned services is governed by the Connect Terms that you accept when you register with the Prusa Connect Services.

Prusa Link is a printer feature that enables remote printing on selected PRUSA 3D printers. Prusa Link consists of software and hardware means. A list of compatible printers enabling the use or installation of Prusa Link can be found here. If Prusa Link is not part of the printer, it is possible to install this functionality on a compatible printer afterwards according to the instructions available at prusa3D.com.

Prusa Connect is a service of remote access, printing, and administration of PRUSA 3D printers connected to the computer network. Through Prusa Connect, you can remotely access the connected printer via the Internet, administer it, assign print tasks to it (individually or collectively for one or more printers), or give additional commands to printers. The Prusa Connect service also includes a data space provided for storing print files, previews, and other content related to the printing process using connected printers. Prusa Connect users may use 3D printers of other users provided that they are members of the Prusa Connect user group (Prusa Connect Team) to which they were invited by its administrator.

Prusa Connect Farm is an extended professional mode of the Prusa Connect service provided as a cloud software service (SaaS). The service is intended in particular for business entities for the management, organisation, monitoring and coordination of a larger number of 3D printers, print tasks, orders, files, users, roles, materials and production processes within an organisation or a group administered by the organisation representative. The Prusa Connect Farm service and functions, including advanced features such as automatic distribution of print tasks, order scheduling, quality-control processes, bulk operations, role management, user management, dashboards, material management and API integrations, serve exclusively for the internal management and coordination of resources within the relevant organisation or Team.

For further information about the Connect Services and how to use them, please see the Connect Terms.

Question 2

Are the Prusa Connect Services compliant with the NIS2 Directive?

Accepted Answer

We are committed to implementing comprehensive cybersecurity measures to ensure the safety and resilience of your data and systems, in line with the Directive (EU) 2022/2555, known as the NIS2 Directive.

Our approach includes robust processes to prevent, detect, and respond to potential risks, ensuring that your data and digital infrastructure are secure and protected against evolving threats. By integrating this framework into our practices, we deliver a holistic approach to data protection, cybersecurity, and intellectual property, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

You can request our NIS2 Compliance White Paper by contacting us at privacy@prusa3d.com or by using the contact form on the PRUSA websites.

Question 3

What ports does Prusa Connect need?

Accepted Answer

Prusa Connect operates mainly on port 445. The rest of the ports are usually open in the majority of networks (e.g., port 67). If you are operating a specific, non-standard network and you suspect the communication is being blocked, you can contact our technical support.

Question 4

What domains do have to be whitelisted?

Accepted Answer

We recommend whitelisting all the prusa3d.com subdomains.

Question 5

What are my options if I want to have a local network only setup?

Accepted Answer

PrusaLink is currently the only available option. However, managing multiple printers this way is not ideal, as PrusaLink offers only limited functionality.

We are therefore working on its successor, Prusa Connect Local, a new local solution designed to provide more advanced printer management while keeping the infrastructure on-premises. You can find an early preview here: Prusa Connect Local – Early Access.

In parallel, we are also working on a local version of Connect Farm, aimed at customers who need advanced farm management and automation while keeping the entire solution within their own local infrastructure.

Question 6

Does GDPR apply to the Prusa Connect Services?

Accepted Answer

We are subject to the Directive (EU) 2016/679, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), since we are headquartered in the European Union (EU) and therefore GDPR applies to us directly (our registered address is Partyzánská 188/7a, Holešovice, 170 00 Prague 7, Czech Republic).

Under the GDPR terms, we act as a separate Data Controller with respect to the provision of the core Prusa Connect Services. See the Connect Data Processing Policy, which forms part of the Connect Terms that you accept when you register with the Prusa Connect Services.

We also act as a Data Processor to our customers who are separate Data Controllers. See the Prusa Connect Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that forms an integral part of the Connect Data Processing Policy, of which it constitutes an annex, and supplements the Connect Terms that you accept when you register with the Prusa Connect Services.

If you enter personal data of third parties into the Prusa Connect Services (in particular, team members such as employees or contractors, end customers from the marketplace, or individuals captured by the camera system), you are the Data Controller with respect to that data. You are responsible for the legal basis for processing, for fulfilling the obligation to inform the data subjects, and for compliance with regulations regarding personal data protection and labor law. We process this data solely in accordance with your instructions based on the DPA.

Question 7

Where are your servers located?

Accepted Answer

Our servers are hosted within the European Union (EU), in Frankfurt, Germany, ensuring that the infrastructure and data processing remain within the European Economic Area (EEA).

Question 8

What kind of support is offered to customers who act as Data Controllers?

Accepted Answer

We conduct the following activities to achieve compliance with the rules of the GDPR:

- Data Processing Records: Maintaining an up-to-date data inventory and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) in compliance with GDPR Art. 30.

- Vendor and Third-Party Due Diligence: Performing due diligence checks prior to onboarding third-party vendors (GDPR Art. 28); proper contracting with third parties (DPA, Joint-Controllership agreement where applicable).

- Lawful International Data Transfers: Ensuring lawful cross-border data transfers by executing Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or applying other approved transfer mechanisms with data importers.

- Customer Onboarding Support: Assisting customers with their vendor onboarding due diligence and proper contracting.

- Data Subject Rights Enablement: Providing assistance in handling requests related to data subjects' rights.

- Customer-Specific Data Retention: Supporting the implementation and enforcement of specific data retention schedules aligned with local laws across jurisdictions.

- Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) Support: Assisting customers with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to satisfy GDPR Art. 35 requirements when requested.

- Privacy by Design and Default: Embedding Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles across all stages of the information lifecycle.

Question 9

How are data subject rights enabled?

Accepted Answer

We are committed to comply with the requirements of the GDPR. As explained above, we act as a Data Controller and Data Processor with respect to providing the Prusa Connect Services.

Enabling data subject rights as a Data Controller
When we act as a Data Controller, we are responsible for enabling data subjects to exercise their rights under the GDPR. As stated in the General Privacy Policy, our customers can reach us via the contact form on the PRUSA websites, the e-mail address privacy@prusa3d.com, or you can contact us by sending a written request to Partyzánská 188/7a, Holešovice, 170 00 Prague 7, Czech Republic.

Please note that in some cases customers will be asked to log in to the Prusa Account and submit a request via the account interface for authentication purposes. We can’t proceed with the request if we are unable to verify your identity. Please note that the next step will be to assess whether you are authorized to request the exercise of the given data subject right. Only authorized persons can proceed with the requests. When we start processing your request and we notice that you are not authorized to proceed (you are not an owner of an account used solely for personal or household activity, or you are not an organisation representative), we will reject the request and kindly ask you to contact an authorized person to assist with the request.

You will always be informed about the current stage of your request, and we will complete your request in no longer than 1 month from the receipt of your request.

Supporting digital rights as a Data Processor
When we act as a Data Processor to our customers, we are not directly responsible for enabling the data subject rights. Our customers, who are Data Controllers, can reach out to us via support contacts or may use the official email addresses available in the Prusa Connect Data Processing Policy, in the Prusa General Privacy Policy, in the Connect Terms, on our website, etc. In case we receive a request from a user who is not an authorized admin, we will defer to the admin to assist with the request. You will always be informed about the current stage of your request, and we will complete your request within 1 month of your request.

Question 10

Does the Data Act apply to the Prusa Connect Services?

Accepted Answer

The Directive (EU) 2023/2854, known as the Data Act, applies to us as the Prusa Connect Services provider. As part of our compliance program, we ensure that non-personal data are protected in the same regime as personal data.

Question 11

How can I exercise my rights under the Data Act?

Accepted Answer

You can reach us via the contact form on the PRUSA websites, the e-mail address privacy@prusa3d.com, or you can contact us by sending a written request to Partyzánská 188/7a, Holešovice, 170 00 Prague 7, Czech Republic.

Question 12

Who is authorized to proceed with the requests?

Accepted Answer

Only authorized persons can proceed with the requests. “Authorised persons” means an owner of an account used solely for personal or household activity or a natural person with the account level “owner” in a team used on behalf of the organisation who, on behalf of the organisation, creates and administers a group (team), represents the organisation towards the operator, and is authorised to perform acts on behalf of the organisation under the Connect Terms, including the conclusion of the data processing agreement. See the Connect Terms for further details.
