Filatech FilaFlexible40 filament

Is it for me?

FilaFlexible40 is elastic, flexible and rubber-like material. On the hardness scale, 40D stands for hard rubber. Whether you need a phone cover, an action camera case or wheels for your RC car, the flexible filament is the way to go.

Hard rubber may be a popular material, however, in some situations, it can be less than ideal or even completely unsuitable. Whether you need a phone cover, an action camera case or wheels for your RC car, flexible is the way to go. The flexible filaments are called TPE (ThermoPlastic Elastomer) or TPU (ThermoPlastic Polyurethane). Compare to normal flexible filaments (TPU or TPE based filaments), FilaFlexible40 has higher resilience (more rubbery), better performance in a wide range of temperatures, easier and more stable printing, higher chemical resistance and also UV resistance.

To successfully print with a flexible filament, first, clean the nozzle of previously extruded plastic. Next, you’ll need to empty the hotend of any plastic left inside. Normal unloading will leave some filament inside and flexible filaments will have a very hard time to extrude. So either do a “cold pull”, where you preheat, insert PLA, set the temperature to 85°C, loosen the idler completely and pull the filament out rapidly. Or alternatively, if you have 1.5mm wire around, you can just preheat and push the filament out with the wire. Before you actually load the filament, loosen the extruder (idler) screws a bit. After that, you’re good to go.

Flexible filaments can bond to the bed too much, especially to smooth PEI. To prevent damage we recommend to use glue on the bed as a separator (you can use the glue stick that we ship with each printer). You can also use the Double-sided Textured PEI Powder-coated Spring Steel Sheet without the glue.

Annoying but if it works, its amazing

Super! Great quality. I had issue with my extruder, filament get stuck. I put more pre-Load on extruder drive chain. Now it is working well. Filament / Material is very good, and usefull.

Excellent filament. I've used it to print RC model tires. Also I used other filaments. The difference in price compared to filament from Aliexpress is rather big but the printing quality is also very much different. The FilaFlexible40 black came about perfect from the headbed. I didn't see any need to do some work cleaning up blobs and strings. Compared to the Aliexpress filament (cheaper, still nice prints!), these required a lot of removing blobs and strings. Furthermore the FilaFlexible40 is the softest filament I have. Price is rather high but quality is excellent!
