Prusa Research and Bondtech introduce 8-Material INDX upgrade for Prusa CORE One

19 November 2025, Frankfurt, Germany — Bondtech and Prusa Research are unveiling the Bondtech INDX, an 8-material multi-tool upgrade for the Prusa CORE One 3D printer, at Formnext 2025 in Fankfurt. The upgrade allows users to print with up to eight materials while keeping the system compact, fast, and cost-effective.

The Bondtech INDX extends the Prusa CORE One into a versatile manufacturing platform. At its heart is the INDX Smart Toolhead with an aluminum body and a self-adjusting dual-extrusion feeder that automatically adapts to materials of different hardness, eliminating manual tuning. Integrated induction heating and contactless temperature sensing bring the nozzle from room temperature to its operating temperature in just a few seconds.

The INDX Thin Passive Tools are lightweight modules that hold only the filament path, nozzle, and heatsink. Their slim design (enabling just 35 mm center-to-center spacing) allows the Prusa CORE One to host up to eight tools simultaneously, to combine different colors and materials with near-zero waste or lengthy filament swaps

Co-development from the beginning

Prusa Research is a pioneer in desktop multi-material 3D printing. It introduced its first MMU1 solution back in 2016 and today offers its third iteration. The company’s portfolio also includes the Prusa XL printer, which enables swapping entire toolheads, expanding its capabilities far beyond just 3D printing.

“When I saw what Bondtech was building, I immediately knew it had the potential to change the perspective of multi-material printing on single-head printers,” says Josef Prusa, CEO of Prusa Research. “Together, we made sure the INDX feels native on the CORE One,” Prusa adds.

The teams split responsibilities by expertise: Bondtech refined the INDX Smart Toolhead and Thin Passive Tools, leveraging its leadership in extrusion and nozzle design, while Prusa’s engineering team integrated the system into the CORE One’s hardware, firmware, and PrusaSlicer. The outcome is an eight‑tool setup that integrates seamlessly on the printer.

“At Bondtech, we’ve always believed that real innovation comes from collaboration. With Prusa, we found a partner that cares as much as we do about quality and user experience,” says Martin Bondéus, CEO and founder of Bondtech.

Founders Edition

The first run of 1000 units of the Bondtech INDX Upgrade for the Prusa CORE One will be available for pre-order exclusively from the Bondtech website, with shipping planned for Q1 2026.
