Josef Prusa announced the release of a 4 material upgrade for the Original Prusa i3 MK2

Prague, CZ – September 28, 2016 - Prusa Research announced the release of a new 4 material upgrade for the very successful Original Prusa I3 MK2  - Original Prusa i3 MK2 Multi Material. It is the first consumer option available to print with 4 different materials or colors simultaneously. The use of up to 4 material feeders with only one hotend makes the solution calibration free and much easier to use than currently available systems. The upgrade aimed on advanced MK2 users is available only in the upgrade form. To stay true to the Prusa Research's tradition, all MK2 printers are upgradable. Preorders are at $199 (€219 VAT incl.) for 2 material option and $249 (€269 VAT incl.) for 4 material option with shipping starting at the end of November 2016. Prusa Research will be exhibiting at TCT Show in Birmingham (September 28-29), Digical show London (September 30-October 1), Maker Faire NYC (October 1-2), Open Hardware Summit in Portland (October 7), Print in 3D/ModelHobby in Prague (October 6-9) and Maker Faire Rome (October 14-16), where you can meet the team and see the Prusa Multi Material in action.

“Our approach to multimaterial is extremely simple, but I had this idea in a drawer for a long time until I was 100% sure we can make the accompanying software easy enough“, said Josef Průša, CEO and Founder of Prusa Research. “Use of a single hotend with multiple filament drives will be the future of multi material FDM printer and I am happy we can push the envelope with it.“

Prusa Research grew 3 times during the period of the last 5 months since the release of the Original Prusa i3 MK2 kit. Producing over 1,000 printers a month with a team of 60 people as of September 2016.
